| I never posted my fugue. It came out real nice, and I sequenced it on the plane to California. I still got a C in the class, so that was lame. www.webchat.org/~dirklo/fugue.mp3

| I'm really starting to believe that there is a magical feild over Calaveras County that eminates forces of depression, stress, frustration, psychosis, and sheer, utter boredom relentlessly on it's inhabitants. Literally, there is nothing I can think of to do with myself right now....there's NOTHING I want to do...I don't even care about playing FF right now...or music...composing...dancing around like an idiot...All I can think of is sitting, being depressed about stupid shit and just not moving. What the hell is wrong with me? How many days left in this "vacation" of mine? Rick | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |

The first mix I did was terrible, because I finished it JUST in time to turn it in... So when I got home I did a quick mix job on it just to get it off my chest. As for the composing, for a piece that I cranked out over about 12 hours in 1 night...I'm damn happy with how it came out.
String Quartet Down. Orchestral Score and Fugue to go. Oh...and my proficiency tomorrow that I'm going to fail...there is that..

| I love sleeping through finals. It's probably the best thing ever. -.- Somebody please write a fugue, a string quartet, an orchestral piece, and an apology letter to my fuckin acoustics teacher for me please.. If you could learn to play sax for me at the same time...that would be great.
Played a good show last night at the Middle East, I think we got some good recordings and some good pictures of Crashwagon...for the first time since the whole band was rebuilt. They should be posted here: http://www.purevolume.com/crashwagon sometime.
Lost my harvest...
/sigh.

| I'm in a ska band. Now to figure out what ska is and how to play it.
I bought a $8 keyboard and scrambled the keys in order to learn how to type. It's working.
Greg (downstairs Greg) works at Starbucks. Yesterday he stole 3 bags of junkfood from Starbucks and told us all that we can dig in. It's so unbelievably delicious.
Yafro.com is the greatest porn site ever invented.
I cleaned my room.
Still at RNG58... I can't seem to find a party that's not a collective idiot.
The other tenor player in CWO just HAPPENED to have a 75WHM, 75PLD and 75RNG that I just never knew about....He started a character on our server this weekend. He's a really cool guy...And my new favorite FF resource.
There are X's markered on my hand because I saw a show in a bar tonite and wasn't allowed to drink.
I haven't talked to Ellis in like a million millions.
Going to Wellesley this weekend. Rock.
CWO show on Wednesday. The composer of one piece tried to withdraw it after hearing one rehearsal. She claimed "The ensemble doesn't care" and "The dynamic and expressive markings of the piece were not followed as she had originlly intended". I kinda want to say good for her that she had the balls to stand up and say that the orchestra, as a whole, sucks. Because it does. I don't like the piece personally. Very Post-20th century. Very hard for an amatuer orchestra to pull off, but we really do suck (except for Mike and I, and the bone section...and the bassoon and oboe...and the horn players...)

| Crashwagon doesn't have an album to sell at the door of our show on Tuesday. Greg (roommate) heard this and was like "Let's record you an album then." An hour and the built in Macintosh Laptop mic produced this: http://www.webchat.org/~dirklo/hand.html

The first of three recordings for my portfolio. So. I have one more day to finish 2 more recordings and write a fugue. Fun.
I was really suprised how crappy my sound was dry, and then came to life with just a little bit of EQ and Reverb. I love Waves. The drums and piano were synthed. My piano playing sounds really white. I got Greg to play the bass line on it. I'm happy with how that came out. I just hope the other 2 recordings can sound this nice...I'm halfway through the arrangement for my second one. Will post when done.
There's a party at my place tonite. I'm being summoned to go get shitfaced.

Go
(41% skill, 64% strategy, and 30% randomness) |
[ Dislikes Skill | Loves strategy | Dislikes Randomness ]
You're Go! In your ideal game, turns take several minutes, or maybe the amount of strategizing is limited by a clock. But none of this checkers nonsense... you want a real thinking man's (or woman's) game! You likely enjoyed logic puzzles when you were younger, and you would probably have been a grandmaster at some respectable board game or another if you weren't so lazy.
You might like: Chess, Diplomacy, Logic Puzzles
You might hate: Carnival Games, Children |

My test tracked 3 variables How you compared to other people your age and gender: | You scored higher than 24% on skill | | You scored higher than 78% on strategy | | You scored higher than 13% on randomness |

| Tell me this doesn't sound like a Final Fantasy Battle theme. It's obvious what was on my mind when I wrote it.
http://www.webchat.org/~dirklo/tone3.html
I realized later I changed parts without knowing it when I sequenced it...I didn't realize it until I checked it against the score the next day. Like the first 8th notes in the beginning, I played them down an octave in the recording...I like it better...and obviously my ear liked it better at the time and didn't decide to tell my brain it changed what I wrote.

| Everone Buy Tads album! http://www.tadpiecka.com
Holy. Effing. Crap. Advent Children is the greatest thing to ever happen to me in the history of the earth. I stole it, justifiably for 2 reasons: 1) They pushed back the US release date til christmas, and that pissed me off. 2) Holy CRAP, it was so unbelievably good that I'm going to buy the most expensive box set super ultimate special edition DVD the fucking minute it comes out.
I'm learning Japanese now. I can totally teach myself. I have a friend who was able to take it this semester, and he let me copy all of the packets and handout for the class for the whole semester. That will cover the basics, the rest I can learn from the internet and watching unholy amounts of anime.
I have to finish my portfolio for the Berklee Academic Scholarship at the end of the semester... I need 3 recordings that show off my skills on the horn. That would be fine...only I'M NOT ANY GOOD! I have to get my writing chops into gear and write some badass shit...Then record it with lots of hip sequencing to hide the terrible, out of tune sax playing. The fact that every piece of audio equipment in my life is like...exploding...doesn't help. My M-box worked for approximatly 10 minutes before exploding. This was right after I had to return my 828 because it stopped working too...I can't do shit for class...all my gear is exacting it's revenge on my life. They also want all the musical shit I've done inside and outside of Berklee since I got here, which despite my numerous answers to Craiglist ads and Berklee bulletin boards, is still an awful low number. I don't know how this is going to happen.
Level 52 Ranger. 27 Ninja I quested my scrolls of tele-holla, tele-dem, tele-mea, tele-yhoat, and tele-altep. Vahzl is too hard. I'll buy it. WHM is 18. Hopefully I can get her to 38 some time so I can have the main teles...I'd have to take her all the way to 42 to get Vahzl though. Leveled marksmanship from 0-85 or so...I realized I could actually take advantage of the nothing delay on bolts that can friggin sleep monsters. Makes my soloing capabilities like 10 fold. Cap is about 150 right now, so I figure I can start leveling it in parties when I get it to about 110-120. I have one last part of my AF1 to do, catch the full moon phase, go to Jugner, then to Windurst. Then cry because AF2 is ridiculous. I need to find a party for LB2 pretty soon too. :/ Final Fantasy is a parallel of my own life. At archery skill 175, I get Sidewinder, and become useful again. Archery cap right now is 156. So I guess I won't get it until 59. That's a long way away. I should have all my AF by then though, so that will be cool.

| Eric (to MOTU receptionist): My 828 broke, Can you fix it or give me a new one? Receptionist: Sure! Just get us a receipt and we're set.
Eric (to Computer Technical Support Department): I need a copy of my receipt for the fi;m scoring bundle, can you get me one? Computer Technical Support Department: We don't handle receipts, that's the Bursar's Office.
Bursar's Office: Bundles all go through the book store, go ask them.
Book Store: We don't have those records, the receipt we gave you should be on file with the 168 building.
168 building (mail room): We were just hired to hand out the Bundles...we don't know anything...talk to your department chair.
Film Scoring Department chair: We don't have receipt records for the bundles, Go talk to the PWD support office.
PWD support office: Well why the hell did you lose your receipt?? You goddamned idiot!
If I had known that receipt was worth $80, I may have payed more attention to it. oh well.
I can't describe how idiotic I feel writing this paper for audio tech.

| "Presently we are seeking applications from students who would be interested in spending the Spring 2006 semester in a full-time program at the Philippos Nakas Conservatory in Athens, Greece. A handful of students will be selected for this study abroad pilot program for Spring 2006. The program of courses that are offered do count toward completion of program requirements at Berklee."
I'm totally applying.
I started to teach myself Greek. It's a lot like spanish once you get past how to pronounce the letters.

| I had to get up at 9 for my 11AM class. I walked out of my room to find 2 of my roommates watching the TV in the living room. I was still asleep and groggy, and on my way to the shower. Greg said "What's up?" and I (attempted grumpyness) said "Morning", Like "the MORNING is what's up, asshole, now leave me alone". Then both he and Kiel said "good morning" back to me. So I, in my attempted tired and grumpy statement, made an inadvertant polite statement.
52 minutes of my break remains. Eric :-) | comments: 2 comments or Leave a comment |
| Something really awkward happened earlier that I haven't been able to shake, though in retrospect, I think I need school to effing start again so I can actually put my mind someplace productive. Here's the dilly-o.
I was leveling Samurai in the dunes. The party was slow and newbish, as most parties are in the dunes, and at one point we lost a member, and were left with 5, without a powerleveler, which basically means death at level 12. Whenever I'm in a party, I always end up being the source of a lot of idle bantor, I talk constantly...about whatever, cracking jokes...never anything insulting or derogatory, unless I'm messing around with Dave or Bub...
At some time in this process of us searching for new members and me blabbing away, our Ninja (a taru) trailed off, got aggroed and died, home pointed, and disbanded... The rest of us are like "ok...he was getting frustrated with waiting and bloodported home..oh well". We eventually picked up a power leveler and start up leveling again, when this same taru (Pumpkinpatch) shows up, this time as a level 72 Black Mage, followed by a train consisting of maybe 15 high level gobs from the dunes, a classic method used by assholes to MPK a party... A high level anything subs White Mage for stoneskin, then agrroes and trains a jillion monsters, runs to a party, then warps out. The monsters aggro the low level party and kill everyone. I saw this and expected I would die. No biggie...I'm friggin level 13...I'd lose like 2 battles worth of experience...even though it would be annoying...
Instead, Pumpkinpatch brought the group of gobs to the party, then killed them all with a high level -aga spell. He then ran up to me and pointed at me, then said in a tell "Don't talk shit about me.", Then warped. Obviously I had no idea what he was talking about...I apologized for whatever it was that I said that got him peeved off enough to spend like 20 minutes dying, changing jobs, coming back, then threatening my little low level nothing job. My theory is that he's just a little 12 year old kid on a power trip because he has a level 70+ character, and just took something that I said the wrong way...something that has happened to me before.
Normal people just shrug shit like this off...but in my case...I can't stand it when someone is really irritated at me for some reason, and I can't for the life of me derive what it was that I said or did that made them so angry...and they won't tell me either. Even in cases where I don't really know the person and I'll never see them again and it doesn't matter at all. For some reason, this instance really bugged me...and I can't seem to stop thinking about it.
On the same token...There were stupid little arguments between my party members and other high levels that were in the dunes for some weird reason...and after leveling, I asked our powerleveler for a warp II, to which he replied "for 2k, sure". Why is it that I feel like this is turning into Diablo II all over again? I need to get the hell out of the dunes...I'm positive that the fact that 4 of our party members were unsubbed newbs had something to do with all of this.... I should go back to leveling ranger, where I don't have to deal with stupid little kids who act like either a black kid with a gun or a whiney 9 year old girl.

| Tech Tools Final Project
This was a lot easier once I scrapped the idea of writing something new and just used my other sequence from MIDI systems.
My voice is good and mundane, so it fit my idea perfectly. I considered going on after the end and saying "Really, this is my excited face..." but I decided to stick under 30 seconds.
